Somewhere in China

Today I sit and think of a mother in China. A mother who gave birth to our beautiful little girl. A woman who had to make a decision that would not only change the rest of her life, but ours also. I look at the picture of our Mei-Li Lynn and cannot imagine the pain her Mother had to feel when she laid her baby at the gate of that orphanage and walked away from her. I feel for her deeply and wish I could tell her thank you and that your baby will have the best life we can give her. I cannot imagine the torture of having to make the decision she made. We are so very thankful for her decision, yet still cry for her. Somewhere in China there is the mother of our baby girl, and I hope that somehow she knows that her baby will be fine.

A Poem we love

Daydreaming

I stepped into her room today
Knowing she's not there
This waiting for referral
Is more than one can bear

But taking in the moment
I sit down on the floor
And dream of her here with me
When waiting is no more

A little giggle fills the air
As I rub her feet
I place my hand upon her heart
To feel its every beat

A song is sung so very soft
Her eyes begin to close
She's meeting me in dream land
A place where love still grows

My vision now is very blurred
The tears stream down my cheeks
I've dreamed of her quite often
Throughout these past few weeks

Suddenly a sound is heard
The phone rings in the hall
Waking up I quickly pray
Please let it be "The Call"

A Poem I Wrote For Mei-Li

Daddy's Little Girl

You are in a country so far away
Yet I see you in my mind every single day

You are the little girl I dream of each night
And the first thing I think of at dawn's early light

I can't help but wonder if you are happy or sad
Are your caretakers nice, or do they make you mad

Do they feed you enough? Are you cold? Are you warm
Do they look after you and protect you from harm

Will you like me as your Daddy or will you want to go back
Am I what you deserve, or is there something I lack

One thing I can promise is that I will do my best
To remember each day that I am truly blessed

You are the missing piece in my puzzle of life
I was meant to have three children and a wonderful wife

So enter my life Mei-Li and you will see
Just how good of a Daddy that I can be

And when you are older, no matter what age you might be
Remember, you are always "Daddy's Little Girl" to me

Love, Daddy

Are we next?.......Who Knows

We have spent the last 22 months reading rumors and then seeing that they are wrong. Well today we have finally made it to the rumors. The latest is that the next batch is going to go to December 12th or 13th. Our LID is the 12th. Do we believe the rumor? We are trying not to, but we cannot help ourselves. We are just excited to be included in a rumor. If we are not in this batch then hopefully the next one. Wish us luck.

Flea Market

We sold so many figurines at our Flea Market store. We met so many nice people who were so willing to help us out. We learned that there are still nice people in this world, people who would walk by our store and drop a donation in our jar or look for a figurine they could afford just to be able to help. We made almost $7,500.00 profit in 17 weekends. We cannot thank our customers enough. I hope they all realize what their kindness means to us.

We picked a name.....or did we???

We decided on a name for our little girl. She will be named Rylie....well that is what we thought. (Many many months later we changed our minds and now she will be named Mei-Li Lynn) We opened up a booth at the flea market in Pevely Missouri selling our collection of Precious Moments figurines to raise the money for the adoption. We named our store "Rylie's Way Home" which made sense at the time.
